In Germany, 60 km from Krásná Lípa in the direction of Gorlitz, there is a flooded sand quarry. There is a 16 km long road around the lake (14 km with perfect asfalt). Possibility of swimming (beautiful sandy beach) and snacks along the way. I recommend it for families with children. The path is suitable for skaters with strollers. Parking (see map) price 2-6Eur.

Park for free in front of the Zahrádky castle and follow the red sign through the castle park. There are new children’s slides in the castle park. Following the dirt road, you will soon arrive in the valley, where rocks, caves, photogenic log cabins in the settlement of Karba and an old railway viaduct will surprise you.

The educational trail has a difficult entrance for cyclists. Here, you walk along the built wooden path along and across the Robečský stream, which is surrounded by vegetation as if somewhere in a secret forest.

It is possible to detour to the Goat farm Nový dvůr (www.farmanovydvur.cz). You will probably be surprised by the local architecture, more reminiscent of antiquity than an agricultural settlement. The cheeses are excellent though.

TIP: part of the educational trail is not suitable for bicycles, but children’s scooters and strollers can pass through. One of the trip members can then quickly go back for the car and come to the goat farm or to the end of the trail to Dubica

Not FIG as figs

Mrakošmak, loved, Jasmír, Panožrout, witness. These are the names of giants alias trees (spruce, crane, maple, Book, linden), which carry a story with a lesson. The trail is 3.5 km long. Some stop can sit and look around the scenic landscape Lusatian Mountains.

Route from Děčín to Bad Schandau (along the river Elbe). Good flat surface along the Elbe with views of the rock massifs. Several rest stops and 2 restaurants along the way. (1 on the Czech side in Dolní Žleb – Restaurace Dolní Grund and 1x on the German side).
Free parking (under the railway bridge in Děčín) or a little further in the parking lot for about 10 cars.

Tip: right on the border with Germany, there is a steep uphill road. After 150m there is Klopotské jetero with a waterfall and clear water for swimming

From the complex of factory buildings, you can then go upstream of the Kamenice river (follow the yellow path) to Česká Kamenice.

The village of Sněžná (Schnauhübel) is located 1 km from Krásná Lípa. It has its own special atmosphere thanks to the beautiful church where some scenes of the film The Lecturer (2008, directed by Stephen Daldry) were filmed. The freely accessible private garden of Mr. Fritsche’s family with a number of remarkable trees and shrubs is also worth a visit. In the spring, the massive blooming rhododendrons attract the most attention, in the summer the lilies stand out,… and in autumn the colors of the leaves. The garden includes several ponds with water lilies. The garden is freely accessible all year round, you just need to find it. From the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, go towards Krásný Buk (red sign), at Grohmann’s cross, leave the red sign and go straight. Then you will come across wooden signposts.

The trip can also be completed with a stroller or wheelchair.

Růžová is a small village with many stilt cottages on the outskirts of the village and with the church of St. Peter and Paul in the middle. A kilometer from the village, I recommend visiting the Růženka lookout tower (the best lookout tower in 2018), which is managed in a modern way. Dokořán Gallery and handmade soap production at the Rubens company are also not to be missed. And if you’re hungry, go to the Růžová farm, they sell cheese here, or stop at the U kostel restaurant (Wed-Sun). For children in the summer months, the Indian village of Rosehill is built on the edge of the village towards Genoa. If you follow the yellow path, you will arrive around Růžové vrch to Dolské mlýn.
